High Speed Rail Line

HSR 1: 679 kilometers in 135 minutes

The first high speed rail link in Russia will make it possible to travel 679 kilometers from Moscow to St. Petersburg in 135 minutes with 16 stops. The line will run through six Russian regions while planned time intervals between trains at rush hours are going to be as short as 15 minutes.

As a reminder, a 'high speed' rail line is an electrified double track line capable of operating trains at 200-400 km/h.

There are no rail lines like that in Russia presently, so a trial high speed rail line connecting Moscow and St. Petersburg is going to become a veritable breakthrough in comfortable and safe intercity travel. Plans also include introducing modern biometrics-based security systems, along with provision of leisure and entertainment for children and adults.

The line from Moscow to St. Petersburg will launch in 2028.
