Air Drag

High-Speed Train Fairing

A test fitting of the head and nose cones intended for the first Russian high-speed train took place. This technological operation makes it possible to assess the geometry of the manufactured components, verify the accuracy of their alignment with the car body, and confirm the correct operation of the movable mechanisms.

The head fairing is made in the form of a fiberglass shell, reinforced with metal embedded parts. In addition to forming the outer contour of the lead car, the design ensures the necessary tightness of the driver’s cabin.

The nose section has a more complex design and combines polymer and metal components. It consists of fixed and movable frames, a drive mechanism and external decorative panels. The design is developed to protect the automatic coupling mechanism from snow, ice, dust and other contaminants while the train is moving.

The streamlined design of the train was developed to meet the high requirements for operation at high speeds. The shape of the head and nose fairings helps reduce air drag and noise levels, as well as lower the train’s energy consumption.

The developed train design plays an important role in the operational characteristics of the high-speed train. Their shape helps reduce air drag and noise levels during operation, while also enabling lower energy consumption. At the same time, these components form the characteristic external appearance of the new modern high-speed train.
